Classic Disney animation meets contemporary urban chaos when a frightened princess is banished from her magical animated homeland to modern-day New York City in a romantic comedy penned by Bill Kelly (Blast from the Past), directed by Kevin Lima (Tarzan), and featuring music by composer Alan Menken and lyricist Stephen Schwartz. Princess Giselle (Amy Adams) lives in the blissful cartoon world of Andalasia, where magical beings frolic freely and musical interludes punctuate every interaction. Though Princess Giselle is currently engaged to be married to the handsome Prince Edward (James Marsden), her fate takes a turn for the worse when the villainous Queen Narissa (Susan Sarandon) banishes her to the unforgiving metropolis of New York City. As the cruelty of the big city soon begins to wear down the fairy-tale exterior of the once carefree princess, the frightened Giselle soon finds herself falling for a friendly but flawed divorce lawyer (Patrick Dempsey) whose kind compassion has helped her to survive in this strange and dangerous new world.---> this is a one sure hilarious movie that everybody would love to watch. it has cartoon characters in it coming to real life. can you imagine that happening in our own world? it would really be chaotic and for sure weird. but erase those thoughts cause watching this movie would make you smile. well, for me that is. i loved the impact of the movie to me. of how after watching it made me forget my problems. it makes you wanna be like the ever innocent Giselle who is like a child who doesn't know much about life. well maybe just for a moment, to have that short period of time to escape from this cruel and problematic world. its a worth watching movie, it's funny and who wouldn't want an hour and 48 minutes of a happy ending fairy tale. plus, the soundtracks are good too.
::: LINES :::
GISELLE: Is that the only word you know? "No?"
ROBERT: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. I mean, No!
GISELLE:"No! No! No!" Over and over! When you keep saying "No!" it just makes me so... Sometimes you make me so!... angry.
[laughs really hard]
GISELLE:[after leaving the shower] Good morning, Robert. I hope you had wonderful dreams.
ROBERT: I think I'm still in one.
GISELLE:Now if only I can find a place to rest my head for the night.
ROBERT: What kind of place?
GISELLE:I don't know. Maybe a nearby meadow or a hollow tree.
ROBERT: A hollow tree?
GISELLE:Or a house full of dwarves. I hear they're very hospitable.
[an angry midget runs under Giselle's dress]
GRUMPY: Hey! Watch it, will ya?
GISELLE:Grumpy!
GRUMPY: Geez, lady! Are you for real?
GISELLE:I-I think so.
GISELLE:Nobody has been very nice to me.
ROBERT: Yeah, well, welcome to New York.
GISELLE: Thank you.
ROBERT: Oh my.
GISELLE: Oh my. He's here!
ROBERT: Apparently.
GISELLE: Oh my. Oh my goodness. How do I look?
ROBERT: Slightly stunned.
GISELLE: No, I mean, how do I look? [mean her appearance]
ROBERT: You look... beautiful.
[talking about Giselle]
SAM: She has no driver's license, no passport, I can't even find this place she comes from.
ROBERT: What place?
SAM: Andalusia.
ROBERT: Andalasia.
SAM: Whatever. I've called every travel agent. I'm not sure if it's a country or a city.
ROBERT: It can't be a state.
[Both watch Giselle acting strangely]
SAM: More like a state of mind. She told me it's just beyond the meadows of joy and the valley of contentment. What is that all about?
