CJ7

Ti (Stephen Chow) is a poor father who works all day, everyday at a construction site to make sure his son Dicky Chow (Xu Jian) can attend an elite private school. Despite his father's good intentions to give his son the opportunities he never had, Dicky, with his dirty and tattered clothes and none of the "cool" toys stands out from his schoolmates like a sore thumb. Ti can't afford to buy Dicky any expensive toys and goes to the best place he knows to get new stuff for Dicky, the junk yard! While out "shopping" for a new toy for his son, Ti finds a mysterious orb and brings it home for Dicky to play with. To his surprise and disbelief, the orb reveals itself to Dicky as a bizarre "pet" with extraordinary powers. Armed with his CJ7 Dicky seizes this chance to overcome his poor background and shabby clothes and impress his fellow schoolmates for the first time in his life. But CJ7 has other ideas and when Dicky brings it to class... chaos ensues.

--> this is one great movie that will really make you laugh almost the entire time. i really enjoyed watching it with the different kinds of personalities the characters has. the cast did a good job in making the movie funny. aside from its humor, it also portrays a beautiful message. i really like the way the father teaches his son of not doing bad things even if they're poor. its storyline is every simple but very touching as it shows values of friendships, family, trust, and sacrifices with the help of a very cute alien friend. there were some exaggerated scenes as seen in shaolin soccer and kung fu hustle but despite that, it was still outstanding.

TUCK EVERLASTING

Winnie Foster (Alexis Bledel) is a girl in her early teens growing up in the small rural town of Winesap in 1914. Winnie's parents (Victor Garber and Amy Irving) are loving but overprotective, and Winnie longs for a life of greater freedom and adventure. One day, while exploring the nearby woods, Winnie gets lost, but she has the good fortune to happen upon the Tuck Family, who live nearby - mother Mae (Sissy Spacek), father Angus (William Hurt), and sons Jesse (Jonathan Jackson) and Miles (Scott Bairstow). The Tucks are warm and caring people, and Winnie feels right at home with them; she also finds herself developing a serious crush on Jesse, and isn't so sure she wants to return; meanwhile, her parents become increasingly distraught as they search for their missing daughter. But in time Winnie discovers there's a secret behind the seemingly idyllic lives of the Tuck Family; they have discovered a magical spring on their property, and anyone who drinks from it will never grow old and never die. While to Winnie this sounds like a wonderful prospect, the Tucks have come to understand this is as much of a curse as a blessing, especially when she realizes Jesse is considerably older than she is. The Tucks also have to contend with the presence of the sinister Man In The Yellow Suit (Ben Kingsley), who wishes to buy their property and make a fortune from their "fountain of youth."

---> life has all kinds of challenges, different things to encounter, weird experiences and some unexplainable occurrences. and in this movie, all that seem to have happened. a secret that a family had kept for so long and maybe never knew how long it has been. this movie is yet another remarkable way of portraying another love story. and like any love stories, there comes happy times and the troubled times. in this film, the trouble comes when you have to decide whether to be with the one you love but with a catch: to forever live, to never die. it would be so wonderful to be with the one you love eternally but i think it would be so boring to live forever. yes you can experience and see all the changes made from one generation to another but what's the point in that?? you'll meet a lot of new great people but i think only one true love is enough. the film really didn't have a happy ending but what was more important was the time when they met and experienced true love. i guess what really matters is not how long we live in this world but how we live each day and make it as if it were the last.

Based on the novel by Steven Gould, Jumper concerns David (Hayden Christensen), a young man who quite literally wills himself away from his grim family life by teleporting to another place with the power of his mind. But he soon discovers that he is not the only one bestowed with this unique gift, and all is not well in the world of jumpers. There are people out there, such as Roland (Samuel L. Jackson), who view jumpers as a threat to all humankind, and have made it their mission in life to eliminate them. After jumping back to Michigan to get reacquainted with his long lost love, Millie (Rachel Bilson), David makes the acquaintance of experienced jumper Griffin (Jamie Bell). Informed by Griffin of a secret between jumpers and a shadowy group that seeks to destroy them, the pair soon finds themselves facing off against a legion of murderous opponents who won't stop fighting until every last jumper has been eliminated.

---> i think this movie is just so cool. imagine you can have your breakfast at London or have your lunch at the pyramids then maybe dinner at Paris. anywhere you want. just picture it in your mind then there you are. and that would be so incredible even just thinking about it. you can go to one place if you get tired with the other. its like an exit to an old boring life to a more exciting and interesting one. i just love the concept of this movie. for me, it was just really creative and imaginative. its something new, something people would want to watch. well of course all this is impossible but who cares everyone has the freedom to dream and be where they wanna be even in the most weird yet amazing way.

HOTEL FOR DOGS

Adapted from author Lois Duncan's 1971 children's book of the same name, director Thor Freudenthal's Hotel for Dogs follows two mischievous orphans as they attempt to hide dozens of stray dogs in an abandoned hotel. Disheartened by their new guardians' announcement that pets are strictly forbidden, 16-year-old Andi (Emma Roberts) and her younger brother, Bruce (Jake T. Austin), race to find a home for their loyal dog Friday. Fortunately for Friday, there's an abandoned hotel just around the corner, and Bruce possesses just the kind of mechanical smarts needed to transform the rundown inn into a four-star retreat for canines. For a while, Friday and his friends have it made, but when the neighbors start to get suspicious, Andi and Bruce resort to every trick in the book in order to prevent their secret from being discovered.

---> it's a very cute movie especially to those who love dogs. it's a pretty interesting story as to how an abandoned hotel became a hotel for dogs. the idea was great and really cute. imagine a hotel for dogs, with spas, salons, restos etc. . the movie also was very creative as one of the main character here is really good in inventing things. he is very young yet very good at it. i was amazed of how they were able to bring up such ideas like making "so called" movie houses, or how their meals were served or the different games the dogs can enjoy. the story also dwells on the lives of two orphaned siblings dealing with their foster parents and how they value one another and their dog. the dog here somehow is the key that keeps them together, the one thing that they love and treasure besides each other.

THE BUCKET LIST

---> it's a good movie to watch for everyone. it is mainly about life. how two very different people dealt with dying. its really a good movie as to how a few months before resting in peace, you meet someone unexpectedly (needless to say in a hospital) who can bring joy in your life. personally, i liked the idea of strangers becoming friends changing each other's life even in a very odd and short span of time. its really very touching as to how they both gradually completed their list. the movie even showed some of the most famous tourist spots in the world. and i would definitely want to see it someday too. just the thought of dying is frightening but this film actually somehow made you forget about its darker side. it teaches you to live life to the fullest, do the things you want to do, and spend it with the people you love. might as well make my own "bucket list" and if i would be lucky hopefully, ill also be as rich as Edward Cole in the movie to make that list complete.

EDWARD COLE: The simplest thing is... I loved him. And I miss him. Carter and I saw the world together. Which is amazing... When you think that only three months ago, we were complete strangers! I hope that it doesn't sound selfish of me but... the last months of his life were the best months of mine. He saved my life... And he knew it before I did. I'm deeply proud that this man found it worth his while to know me. In the end, I think it's safe to say that we brought some joy to one another's lives, so one day, when I go to some final resting place, if I happen to wake up next to a certain wall with a gate, I hope that Carter's there to vouch for me and show me the ropes on the other side.

CARTER CHAMBERS: [in his letter to Edward] Dear Edward, I've gone back and forth the last few days trying to decide whether or not I should even write this. In the end, I realized I would regret it if I didn't, so here it goes. I know the last time we saw each other, we weren't exactly hitting the sweetest notes-certain wasn't the way I wanted the trip to end. I suppose I'm responsible and for that, I'm sorry. But in all honestly, if I had the chance, I'd do it again. Virginia said I left a stranger and came back a husband; I owe that to you. There's no way I can repay you for all you've done for me, so rather than try, I'm just going to ask you to do something else for me-find the joy in your life. You once said you're not everyone. Well, that's true-you're certainly not everyone, but everyone is everyone. My pastor always says our lives are streams flowing into the same river towards whatever heaven lies in the mist beyond the falls. Find the joy in your life, Edward. My dear friend, close your eyes and let the waters take you home.

CARTER CHAMBERS: Even now I cannot understand the measure of a life, but I can tell you this. I know that when he died, his eyes were closed and his heart was open. And I'm pretty sure he was happy with his final resting place, because he was buried on the mountain. And that was against the law.

---> it's an action-suspense-thriller film that will surely satisfy your craving for a good movie. I love this movie. even from the start, it was interesting already. it is generally about a father-daughter relationship, about how a father would do anything out of love for his daughter. it's a touching and heartbreaking film at the beginning. a lot of action scenes all throughout which is the part that i somewhat disliked from the movie (they were so brutal). but still it amazed me as to how only one man can do all the killing and fighting. the storyline was mainly outstanding. just the idea of how one person using his special skills from like re-enactments of the actual incident, finding clues, how he can just go in and out from an exclusive event, and how he easily traces the criminals with the given time of 96 hours. it somehow depicts reality, as to how dangerous the world can be. but then it also shows that we can rely on the most important persons in our lives. its a must watch film. you'll love it from start to end.
